Maple is…passionate! That’s one way to put it. Maple is a college dropout turned fitness coach. She likes her job enough, but she has an air of unseriousness about her that doesn’t seem to fit. She’s headstrong, confident, cocky, and a definite risk-taker. Maple lives life dangerously and with minimal precautions, and she’d even throw herself down a cliff if she knew there was a Cryptid down there.

Oh?! I didn’t mention that huh?
Probably because she would never admit it herself!

Maple is an avid Cryptid “researcher” who runs an online forum for Cryptid enthusiasts. She keeps it on the down-low though, she can’t be caught being too kooky, lest her confident and strong facade be broken!

When Maple meets Syrup, she’s forced to weigh pursuing her tucked away dreams with what reality has to offer her. Having her dad’s old van stored away in her garage really helps make that decision easier for her though!

Syrup is a nerd, through and through. Maybe he gets picked on for it, but he doesn’t let that stop him. His confidence comes from his drive to prove himself against what people think of him. That confidence is internal though, and focused on his work more than anything (which kind of reinforces the whole nerd thing, huh?).

His whole life he’s been enamored by the splendor of nature and the way that something so small and minuscule can turn into a towering and beautiful spectacle. Syrup would like to think of himself as a just planted seed, ready to grow.

He’s currently at Birchwood University pursuing a degree in botany. However, what he’s really interested in is Cryptobotany, or the study of fantastical plants with unique and unusual qualities. He’s seen em, but no one thinks that nature can be ensouled the way he thinks. It’s a tough one to prove, but he’s willing to do anything to legitimize his research. Even go to the…g-gym!!!!

Brie is a new park ranger and police officer who honestly, doesn’t care much for nature. As punishment for her hotheaded attitude, she’s over at Happy Trails for a season or two (or however long she needs to be)!

This was… supposed to be a temporary situation. She values structure and following the rules, and when it comes to being a ranger, it’s the structure she craves! Even so, she hates the fact Maple and Syrup break the rules and get away with it so often. Not to mention that there seems to be something…off about the park that seems to make everyone a little pent up.

Her relationship with Barry is strained and tense. For some strange reason Barry lets people off with a warning more than she’d say is acceptable. They both have different ways they want to run the park that don’t mesh well together.

Barry is a long time park ranger, having served as one for over 20 years. He's serious about his work, and loves nature and the outdoors dearly. He works to maintain the natural beauty of the park around him, and doesn't take well to folks defacing the park or messing with wildlife.

He knows about the odd quality of the park, but it hasn't affected him for a long time. He's got a past shrouded in mystery, and doesn't let people get too close to him. He keeps to himself. As long as there's peace and quiet, he's letting it be.

He may not look it, but the hard exterior is just that. He's awfully lenient to folks who do nothing more than enjoy themselves in the park. Because of this, him and Brie clash often.
